Bobbi Ruth Blinn celebrates 20 years of service with Bauer Funeral Home

Bobbi Ruth Blinn celebrates 20 years of service with Bauer Funeral Home Many in the community know Bobbi Ruth Blinn in one way or another, whether it be through her work as a nurse, ministry through music with many churches or involvement in different community groups. However, she is also recognized for being a fixture at Bauer Funeral Home for the last 20 years, lending a caring shoulder or listening ear to families during the hardest times in their lives.

“Bobbi Ruth started working at the Bauer Funeral Home in Kittanning in April of 1998 and she has done a wonderful job caring for our families,” said Jennifer Bauer Eroh, owner of Bauer Funeral Homes. “She works at our Kittanning, Elderton and Dayton locations, and many people in the area know her and find her a comforting presence, which makes a difficult time just a little easier.”

Blinn has devoted her life to serving others, beginning with her working as a staff nurse for the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh Adoption Agency. After living in Pittsburgh during her time at the adoption agency, Blinn returned to her hometown of Kittanning to become the administrator for the Kittanning Presbyterian Home, where she worked until retirement.

Music is a passion of Blinn’s and she regularly ministers to others by playing piano and organ, and singing at many local high rises, nursing homes and churches. She also had the distinction of singing as a soprano on the “Melody of Life” program on KDKA Radio.

She was the founder of the Red Hat Society of Armstrong County and enjoys making people laugh while in character as “PO-Z the Clown.” Many hours of her life have been dedicated to serving in leadership for many local organizations and she currently serves on the board of directors for Family Counseling Center.

Since the middle of last year, Blinn has been off work while receiving treatment for cancer, which is now in remission. “I so happy that I get to come back, especially on the 20-year anniversary of my service with Bauer,” said Blinn. “Being a comfort to others is what drives me and I can’t imagine doing anything else.”

Blinn is not the only one who is thankful to be back to work – the staff at Bauer is glad to have her back and doing what she does best: caring for others.

“Many people ask about her when she’s not working a service and we get many compliments from our families, saying how welcoming and helpful she was during services,” said Eroh. “She has made an impression on so many people and I am thankful for all she has done.”

Jennifer Bauer Eroh joins Richard G. Snyder YMCA Board of Directors

Jennifer Bauer Eroh joins Richard G. Snyder YMCA Board of Directors The Richard G. Snyder YMCA is proud to announce that Jennifer Bauer Eroh, president of Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., will be returning to the Board of Directors. Having previously served from 2012 to 2016, Eroh looks forward to working with board members to serve the citizens of Armstrong County.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on the board again and can’t wait to get started,” said Eroh. “There are so many exciting things happening at the Y that will have an impact on many people in our area and I love that I get to be part of that.”

On the Board of Directors Eroh will serve on the Marketing Committee, which will allow her to use her background in public relations to help with different events. During her previous time on the Y board Eroh also worked on the Marketing Committee, so she is already familiar with the job that needs to be done.

“Serving on the Y board is close to my heart for many reasons, one being that I’m following in the footsteps of my father and grandfather,” said Eroh. “Just like I am the third generation of our family to run Bauer Funeral Home, I am a third-generation board member. It’s something special I get to share with them.”

Eroh’s grandfather, Amberson C. “Amby” Bauer, became the president of the board in 1957 and oversaw the purchase of the original Y building. He was also instrumental in leading the additions to the building, including the natatorium and Bauer Hall. Amby’s son and Eroh’s father, John W. “Jack” Bauer, also served as president of the Board of Directors, has been a trustee for over 30 years and currently is the All Campaigns Chair overseeing the Annual Campaign, the Capital Campaign and the Endowment Fund.

Eroh’s daughters are another reason why working with the Y is important to her. “My girls have belonged to the Snyder Stingrays Swim Team for a few years now and I am an active swim team parent,” she said. “I see first-hand the positive impact this organization has on my daughters’ lives and I hope to use my time and talents to bring similar experiences to local families.”

Despite the break that Eroh took from serving on the board, she still found a way to assist the Y by working with the Annual Campaign. In 2017, Eroh led an Aquatics Annual Campaign Team which helped raise money to provide swim lessons for local children.

As a result of last year’s Annual campaign, $75,000 has gone toward for community outreach, the Healthy Living Initiative, youth programing, membership and the Military Initiative. After the success of the 2017 campaign, Eroh and the rest of the Y leadership are excited to get started raising funds for 2018.

“So many positive opportunities for people of all ages are available now because of all the money given during the Annual Campaign,” said Eroh. “I am thankful for the chance to offer my time and talents to the Y and can’t wait to see the progress made in the coming years.”
