Lyle D. Barrett

Lyle D. Barrett, 93, of Dayton, PA passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Lyle was born on Jan. 14, 1932 in Milton, PA; the son of Raymond E. and Olive E. (Anthony) Barrett.

Lyle graduated from Taylor University where he played college football. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a devoted member of the Dayton Global Methodist Church, where he held various leadership roles throughout the years. His voice was a familiar and cherished sound in the church choir and as part of the Marshall House Quartet. As the owner and operator of Barrett Lumber Co., Lyle worked with skill, honesty, and an uncanny ability to solve any calculation in his head-never needing a calculator.

An avid hunter, Lyle had a hunter's eye that rarely missed. He was loving, kind, and compassionate. He was also selfless, generous, and humble, willing to help anyone in need. He had a great love for his family and he intentionally shared his love of Jesus with his children, not only by speaking of his faith but by living it every day.

His memory will be cherished by sons, Timothy J. Conners and wife Martha of Monroeville, Michael L. Conners and wife Jennifer of Hurley, NY, and David L. Barrett of NuMine and fiancée Kristine Cook; daughter, Shari Infante and husband Anthony of Saxonburg; grandchildren, Hunter and fiancée Eryn, Julia and husband Liam, Drake, Easton, Elliott, Parker, Chloe, Pam and husband Aaron, William, Emily, Ian, Elijah, Christian, and Sophie; and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Gabriel.

He is also survived by his brother; James Barrett and wife, Judy of Coraopolis; sisters; Patricia Barrett Hetrick and husband Venton of New Bethlehem, Irene Barrett Alyn of Dayton, Paula Barrett Reedy and husband Herman of Mars, sister-in-law Sharon Barrett; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents; loving wife, Lorena Ann (Snyder) Barrett, whom he married on Aug. 14, 1971 and who passed away on July 19, 2009; brothers, Eugene Ross "Gene" Barrett, Raymond Barrett, and Verle Barrett; daughter-in-law, Becky L. Barrett.

Friends and family will be received from 2 - 5 PM and 6 - 8 PM on Monday, April 21, 2025 at the Dayton Global Methodist Church, 105 E Church Ave, Dayton, PA 16222.

Additional visitation will be from 11 AM until the time of funeral services at 1 PM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Dayton Global Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barry Ritenour officiating.

Interment will be in Milton Cemetery, Dayton, PA.

Contributions may be made in Lyle's memory to Dayton Global Methodist Church.
