Linda A. Lovell

Linda A. (McCully) Lovell, 87, of rural New Bethlehem, previously Sligo, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 after a hard-fought, courageous battle to recover from a stroke. Her family members were by her side throughout that journey.

Linda was born on December 11, 1938, in Irvona, PA, to Leonard L. McCully and Josephine A. (McGarvey) McCully. After meeting and falling in love with James Lovell, they married in May 1957 in Coalport, PA. Together they lived in Oklahoma while Jim served in the US Army. Following his service there, they moved back to PA and settled in Clarion County. Jim survives her.

Linda's legacy continues through her two daughters: Cathy Lovell Steiner and husband Robert of Brookville and Shari Lovell Galgano of Lewes, DE. Linda was blessed with three grandchildren: Justin Steiner and his wife Emily Walley, Minneapolis, MN; Erin Steiner Bucci and husband Joe, York, PA; and Katie Galgano Todorow and husband Nick, Wilmington, DE. Linda was also blessed to be a great grandmother, lovingly called Mimi by Jack Todorow and Josephine and Samuel Bucci.

Linda served her community through her work with the US Postal Service, first as a clerk at a number of post offices in western Pennsylvania and eventually becoming postmaster in her then hometown of Sligo. She retired from there in 2005. Her hobbies in retirement had been spending time with Jim and their poodles Mitzie and Maggie and taking them for ice cream in their convertible. Later they enjoyed exploring the back roads around their home in Linda's UTV. Linda always enjoyed a good game of Canasta with her friends and spending time with her family.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Jane McCully Gallaher and Gary Gallaher, her son-in-law, Joseph Galgano, and an infant son.

Linda's family wishes to thank the medical staff and therapy team at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh; the medical staff and therapy team at Shippenville Nursing & Rehab; and the Clarion Forest Visiting Nurses Association for their expertise, encouragement, and compassionate care.

Memorials in Linda's name can be made online at www.stroke.org or to "Activities for Residents" at Shippenville Nursing & Rehab, 21158 Paint Blvd, Shippenville, PA 16254.

Linda's ashes will be interred at the Fairview Cemetery in Newburg, Clearfield County, PA.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home in Rimersburg; but in honoring Linda's wishes, there will be no public visitation or service.

A celebration of her life will be held by her family at a future time.

In lieu of visitation, Linda's family encourages friends and family to write messages or share stories about or memories of Linda via the link provided with her obituary.
