Leon E. "Bill" Heider, Jr.
Leon E. "Bill" Heider, 75, of Shelocta, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 20, 2026 at his home.He was born on Oct. 13, 1950 in Wilkinsburg, PA, the son of Leon Edward and Shirley (Lucas) Heider.
Bill worked for 37 years as a Senior Engine Analyst with Dominion Resources. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His favorite pastimes were reading, taking pictures, playing golf, and he loved to tell "dad" jokes and stories. Hunting season was his best time of the year and he spent it going to camp in Tioga County with the "Hardy Gang" and traveling to West Virginia to hunt with family. Bill could be found the third Saturday of every month playing poker with his card buddies. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and the jokes he told.
His memory will be cherished by his mother, Shirley Heider of Sykesville, PA; his loving wife, Linda (Spencer) Heider, whom he married on Sept. 21, 1974; two daughters, Jamie L. Beach and husband, Ben of Newport, NC, and Jen. L. Hobson and husband, Josh of Royersford, PA; four grandchildren, Kendall, Isaac, Kymber, and Kenzie Beach; brother, David Heider and wife, Anita of Painesville, OH; two sisters, Donna Trulick and husband, Jeff of Elkins, WV, and Diane Cherico and husband, Anthony of Pottstown, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Edward Heider, Sr.
Friends and family will be received from 2 - 4 PM on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA, where funeral services will follow at 4 PM.
