Larry Clinton Reefer
Larry Clinton Reefer, 85, of Elderton, PA passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024 at St. Andrew's Village in Indiana, PA.He was born on Oct. 1, 1939 in Indiana. He was a member of Shelocta Presbyterian Church, the Masons, Jaffa Shriners, and he served in the United States Army (1957-1961). He also spent many years as an Elderton volunteer firefighter and served as their treasurer. He was a machinist by trade and began his career in Emporium and Delmont PA. Then, he was employed by Keystone Generating Station in Shelocta, where he retired after 30 years as the Supervisor of Maintenance.
Larry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Facetiming them often, and attending their sporting events and dance recitals. As a Shriner, he volunteered a lot of his time transporting children to hospitals in Erie. He loved sitting on the front porch with his wife and chatting with neighbors who walked by, whistling, buying cars, dancing, traveling, hunting, buying guns, wood working, watching the Steelers, antiquing, visiting casinos, and talking about wrestling with Larry Guy, Matt, Chris, and Zack. He liked reminiscing about his 70-year history with Margie, as well as his earlier childhood days growing up in Elderton.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie (Rearick) Reefer, whom he married on October 28, 1961, and who passed away on October 31, 2024; his grandson, Derek Clinton Mallory; his parents, Henry Clair and Viola May Reefer; his brother, William Guy Reefer; and his sister, Norma Reefer Shilling.
Larry will be missed by his three daughters, Kelli Paquette and husband, Keith, of Indiana, PA, Lisa Mallory and husband, Kevin, of West Richland, WA, Nicole Phillipine and husband, Joe, of Milton, DE; grandchildren Ryan Mallory (WA), Jensen Paquette (MD), Alexander and Ava Phillipine, (DE); and great-grandson, Easton Mallory (WA).
A private graveside service will be held at the South Bend Cemetery at a later date.
