Sonya L. Kijowski

Sonya L. Kijowski, 76, of Manorville, PA, passed away on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at UPMC Magee-Women's Hospital.

She was born on Jan. 13, 1948 in Kittanning, PA; the daughter of Francis Oscar and Leota J. (Clouse) Beck.

Sonya graduated from Kittanning High School and was part of the first graduating class at Lenape Vo-Tech in 1966. She worked for over 20 years in housekeeping at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Sonya cherished family gatherings, reunions, and parties, always finding joy in bringing people together. She had a passion for baking, especially wedding and birthday cakes for her loved ones. The holidays held a special place in her heart, and she loved cooking surrounded by family helpers. Sonya was a devoted caregiver, always ready to lend a helping hand and ensured there was always an abundance of love and food to share. She will be fondly remembered for her selflessness, her caring spirit, and for always putting others' needs first.

Her memory will be cherished by loving husband, Peter P. Kijowski, Jr. whom she married on Nov. 18, 1967 at Barbers Point in Oahu, Hawaii; her sons, Chad A. (Holly) Kijowski of Dayton, Clint P. (Vicki) Kijowski of Cascade, ID; daughter, Trish L. (Dale Walker) Kijowski of Kittanning; nine grandchildren, Amanda, Tyler, Justin, Larissa, Keely, Ashley, Nathan, Owen, and Libby; brothers, David O. (Sally) Beck of Ford City, and Danny C. (Sandy) Beck of Kittanning; her sister, Mindy S. Beck of Kittanning.

She was preceded in death by her father, Francis Oscar Beck; her mother, Leota J. Beck, whom she was extremely close to; brother, Gary J. Beck and his wife, Kathi; and sisters, Frances Venturini and Deirdre Marr.

Friends and family will be received from 11 AM until the time of services at 1 PM on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning, PA with Rev. Fred Chapin officiating.
