Dale Duane Steffy

Dale Duane Steffy, 97, of Kittanning, PA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 30, 2024 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot, PA. Dale was born March 21, 1927 in Dayton, PA, the son of James C and Anna Rebecca (Fleming) Steffy. Dale made his home with his son Rick and wife Roxann Steffy, granddaughter Jessa and husband Gregg Rumbaugh and their two children in a 4-generation household.

Dale spent his youth in Dayton and graduated from Dayton High School in 1945. He honorably served in the US Army during World War II and worked at Linde Air for 33 years as a mechanic until his retirement in 1982. Dale was a member of the First Church of God of Kittanning for 60 years where he held various leadership roles, Masonic Lodge #244 of Kittanning for 50 years, and the New Castle Consistory.

One of Dale's passions was going to the Steffy camp in Sigel, PA, which has been in his family for 58 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger years he was known as a very competitive baseball player. He enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, and was a life long Pittsburgh Pirates Fan. Dale had a great sense of humor. His favorite food to eat was mashed potatoes and would have eaten them daily if available. Dale read the Bible daily, with Job being his favorite book.

Dale's love for his family was evident. He would help with any project that was going on. He will be greatly missed by his sons, Rick and Roxann Steffy of Kittanning, Scott and Chris Steffy of Worthington, and daughter Karen and Rich Rumbarger of Ft. Myers, FL. His eight grandchildren, Ryan (Lori) Rumbarger, Hayley Rumbarger, Justin Rumbarger, Jessa (Gregg) Rumbaugh, Jera (Josh) Dynda, Joshua (Anne) Steffy, Brittany (Seth) Grafton and Jacob (Breann) Steffy. As well as his ten great-grandchildren Haydn and Emry Rumbaugh, Von and Violet Dynda, Maddison and Zoey Rumbarger, Sloane Rumbarger, Silas and Rhea Grafton, and Colson Steffy.

Dale was predeceased by his parents, loving wife of 50 years, Imogene (Starr) Steffy, who died September 28, 2000, brothers Elmer, Edward, John, and Bernard Steffy, sister Bernice Huffman, as well as an infant brother.

Friends will be received from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at the Bauer Funeral Home, 515 N McKean Street, Kittanning, PA 16201. A Masonic memorial service will be held at 5:45 PM.

Additional viewing will be held from 9AM until the time of the funeral services at 10AM on Friday, September 6, 2024 at the Bauer Funeral Home with Pastor Gale Winning officiating. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.
