Barbara Jean Davis
Barbara Jean ("Barb") Davis, of Kittanning, PA passed away at her home on May 7, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.She was born on June 8, 1957 in Wilkinsburg, PA; the daughter of George Robert and Sara Jane Sampson Davis.
Barb was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Kittanning, where she actively served on the Food Bank and Outreach Committees. She earned her Degree in Education from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania and dedicated many years as a science teacher at Girard Middle School, inspiring many students with her passion for learning. Barb later served as the Director of the Penn State Educational Partnership Program (PEPP) at Penn State Behrend, where she took great pride in guiding underserved students toward higher education opportunities. A lifelong learner, she earned her Masters in Public Administration from Penn State University at the age of 60. Barb also became a Master Naturalist through the Outdoor Discovery Center at Crooked Creek, where she founded a Junior Naturalist Camp to share her love of the outdoors with others. She enjoyed hiking and reading, but above all, her greatest joy was being a loving mother and a proud new grandmother.
Her memory will be treasured by her son, Daniel Hido and wife, Kelly, of Mt. Lebanon; her daughter, Rachel Hido of Pittsburgh; grandchild, Hayden Daniel Hido; two brothers, Tom Davis and wife Sue, of Kittanning, and Bob Davis and wife, Joni, of Portland, OR; two sisters, Peggy Smith and husband, Ed, of Indiana, and Janet Treacy and husband, Paul, of Penn Run; lifelong friend Elaine Zimmerman; many nieces and nephews and cousins; and Patrick Hido, former husband and father of Dan and Rachel.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents.
Family and friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral service at 11:00 AM on May 16, 2026 at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 155 N Jefferson St., Kittanning, PA 16201 with Pastor John Hopkins officiating.
