Carolyn S. "Carole" Hartzell

Carolyn S. "Carole" Hartzell, 66, of Smicksburg, PA passed away on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025 with her husband by her side.

She was born on Oct. 21, 1958 in Allegheny County, PA; the daughter of Leonard B. and Peggy L. (Jamison) Fulmer.

Carole went to North Allegheny High School and made her home in Smicksburg in 1997 after previously living in Warrendale. She attended the Church of the Nazarene in Numine. Carole enjoyed tending her garden and cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins. She loved animals and caring for her pets. She liked cooking and baking for her family, and nothing made her happier than spending time with her family. Carole's adventurous spirit and kind heart will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Richard E. "Dick" Hartzell, whom she married on July 1, 1989; son, Joseph "Tony" Conforto and wife, Amy of Indiana, PA; daughter, Samantha (Conforto) Miller and husband, William of Zelienople; grandchildren, Derek Hiller and wife, Raegan and Christina Hiller; great-granddaughter, Dakota Hiller; and brother, Walter B. Fulmer and wife, Gerrie of Boyers, PA.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George S. Fulmer, and sister, Shirley Wright.

Friends and family will gather from 5 PM until the time of a memorial service at 7 PM on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025 at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, Inc., 125 E. Main St., Dayton, PA with Pastor Theresa Peace officiating.

Interment will be in Smicksburg Cemetery, Smicksburg, PA.
