Lanny C. Fields

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lanny C. Fields, 84, of New Bethlehem, PA on Tuesday August 12, 2025 at his home. A beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother, father in-law, brother in-law, friend, companion and mentor, Lanny leaves behind a legacy rooted in love, laughter, and the great outdoors.

Lanny was a proud graduate of Union High School and Clarion University, where he earned his Master's Degree in Elementary Education. A dedicated and gifted teacher, he inspired countless students over his 30-year career with the Union School District before his retirement in 1999. Lanny attended of Baker Street Church of God in Rimersburg.

Born on March 12, 1941, Lanny developed a deep appreciation for nature early in life with his good buddies and shared that enthusiasm throughout his life with his friends, then passed along that love and knowledge to his beloved grandson Brian. Whether it was golfing in the sunshine, spending countless hours in a deer stand alongside a friend, fishing in the quiet streams, or simply driving the back roads of Clarion County with the windows down, he found peace and purpose in the natural beauty of Pennsylvania.

But as much as he loved the outdoors, Lanny's heart belonged to the people in his life. His friends knew him as loyal, generous, and always ready with a story and support. His wife knew him as Pooder, his grandkids knew him as O'Pa, his students remember him as the best teacher they ever had, and his daughter knew him as the best dad she could've ever wished for. He believed in treating people with love and respect, without judgement, and was always available to lend a hand or heart whenever needed.

His memory will be cherished by his daughter, Kelley Haselsberger and husband, Mark, of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Dr. Brian Haselsberger and wife, KathiJo of Farmington, NY and Erica Haselsberger of Charlotte, NC; sister, Cathy Fields Kunkle of Indiana, PA and companion Erin Bish of New Bethlehem. Lanny was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 50 years, Gail A. (Rumbaugh) Fields, who passed away on Jan. 8, 2016; and his brother, John Fields.

Friends will be received from 11 AM until the time of services at 1 PM on Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, at the Baker Street Church of God, 160 Veteran St., Rimersburg, PA with Rev. John Milliron officiating.

Contributions may be made in Lanny's honor to Union Enhancement Foundation at www.unionsd.net.
