Dennis Alan McLaughlin passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at his home.

He was born in Summerville, PA on May 11, 1939; to William Dail "Barney" McLaughlin and Geraldine Alice (Ishman) McLaughlin.

Dennis attended Union School District. He moved to Rimersburg while he was in grade school. He was a well-known athlete in High School where he set records in baseball, basketball and track. Later he became an accomplished golf player, winning many championships at Pinecrest Golf Course. He had 12 hole in ones and placed third twice in the Pa State Senior Championship. Dennis loved playing championship courses, such as Pebble Beach, Colonial, St. Andrews, and Carnoustie in Scotland.

Dennis and Anita traveled, visiting countries in Europe, Asia, and South America. Dennis also served two years in the Army. He played baseball one year for the Army. Dennis also received a trophy at the end of his basic training for Outstanding Trainee, which he was very proud of.

After the Army, he attended Clarion University and became a teacher in the Union School District for 30 years. While there, he was the Junior High Basketball coach for 14 years with 14 year winning seasons.

After retirement, Dennis spent his winters in Myrtle Beach, SC in a condo at the Myrtlewood Golf Course where he was a member.

Dennis and his wife Anita were married on July 1, 1962. They had a wonderful life together and always said the only times they were apart was when Dennis was on the golf course.

Dennis was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion, PA.

He is survived by his wife, Anita McLaughlin; sister, Judy Traister and husband, Laird; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Larry (Pat) McLaughlin and Fred (Carol) McLaughlin.

Dennis was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clarion, PA.

There will be no visitation.

Entombment will be in Rimersburg Mausoleum.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pamela McMaster who was dedicated to providing excellent care to Dennis.
