Ray Stewart Walker

Ray Stewart Walker, formerly of East Brady, PA, passed away at UPMC Mercy in Pittsburgh last week at the age of 89, following complications after a fall.

He was born on May 19, 1935 in Stoystown, PA, the son of Percy and Alma (Shroyer) Walker.

Mr. Walker graduated from Shanksville High School, Broadcasting School in Washington, D.C. where he obtained his broadcasting license, and Penn State University where he received a degree in accounting. He served at Camp Casey in South Korea as a radio operator and decoder in 1955 for the U.S. Army. Ray worked for nearly fifteen years as the parts manager for R&H Trucking in Clarion before making a decades long career as a radio sportscaster with WWCH Radio Station in Clarion. Later in his career, he did live sports broadcasting, as well, for cable television.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Bethany Walker and husband, Bela Bodo of Wachtberg, Germany; son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and wife Jennifer Walker of Rimersburg; his siblings, Virgil Walker of Altoona, PA, Faye Walker of Jennerstown, PA and Elvin Walker of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Ryder Walker.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sharon Elizabeth (Armagost) Walker, whom he married on Aug. 6, 1965 and who passed away on Sept. 7, 2010; his siblings, Shirley Duppstadt and Sylvan Walker.

Friends and family will be received from 7-9 PM on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024 at Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main Street, Rimersburg.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, at the Faith Fellowship Church, 399 Main St., Rimersburg, PA with Pastor Andrew Flower officiating.

Interment will be in Rimersburg Cemetery, Rimersburg, PA where military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post # 454.
