Eleanor M. McCausland

Eleanor M. McCausland 88, of Shelocta, PA, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2023 at St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh.

She was born on Aug. 22, 1935 in Sagamore, PA, the daughter of Joseph A. and Alverta O. (Thomas) McCullough.

Eleanor was a 1954 graduate of Elderton High School and a lifelong resident of Armstrong County. She was a member of the former St. Thomas United Church of Christ in Gastown. Eleanor worked as a florist with Shireman's Greenhouse and loved planting and growing flowers in the greenhouse. Following her retirement in 2005, she operated Ellie's Flower shop from her home until 2010. Eleanor loved to create; she liked painting, crafting and sewing and made many of her children's clothes. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and doing jigsaw puzzles.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Douglas McCausland and wife, Diane of Pittsburgh, Ronald McCausland and wife, Linda of Hookstown, Wayne McCausland and wife, Roxanne of Kittanning, Tim McCausland and wife, Charlene of Home; daughter, Denise Freund and husband, Michael of Bethel Park, PA; grandchildren - J.D. McCausland and Nicole Walsh, Matt McCausland and wife, Madison, Tim McCausland, Kayla McCausland, Mark McCausland, Ellie McCausland, Jason McCausland, Christopher Freund, Nicolas Freund, Greg McClafferty, Dean McClafferty, and Kevin McClafferty; ten great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Sue McCullough of Rural Valley

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Beryl Dean McCausland whom she married on Nov. 23, 1957 and who passed away on May 3, 1981; her brother, Earl McCullough; and sisters, Mary McCullough and Ida Erdley.

Friends and family will be received from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2023 at Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, Sept. 28 2023 at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Atwood Cemetery, Atwood, PA.
