Debra K. Baker

Debra K. Baker, 63, of Rural Valley, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 17, 2019, at her residence.

She was born March 24, 1955, in Latrobe, PA, the daughter of William F. and Katherine (Preistas) Wellek.

Debra grew up in Latrobe and graduated from Latrobe High School in 1973. She currently worked as an equipment operator for Omnova Corp. in Jeannette, where she had been for 27 years. Debra was a resident of Armstrong County for 15 years and a member of Hilltop Baptist Church in Indiana.

Visiting flea markets and writing to her many pen pal friends were two of Debra's favorite hobbies, and she also loved spending time with her son and family. She had a deep love for animals and enjoyed dogs, cats and camels. Debra also loved going on motorcycle rides with her husband, Carson.

Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Carson W. Baker, whom she married May 27, 1988; son, Michael Challinor and wife, Rachel, of Derry; brother, Billy Wellek, of Latrobe; and brothers-in-law, Ray Baker and wife, Faye, of Montvale, VA, and Roger Sidehammer and wife, Mary, of Ligonier.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Ann Koski.

Friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Monday, January 21, 2019, at the John J. Lopatich Funeral Home, Inc., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main St., Elderton, PA, with the Rev. Jack Lucas officiating.

Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
