Helen "Jo" Custer

Helen R. "Jo" Custer, 74, of Rimersburg, PA, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Clarion Hospital.

She was born in Clarion County, PA on November 29, 1941, the daughter of James and Elva (Blair) Confer.

Jo dedicated her life to caring for her family and everyone was always welcome in her home. Spending time with her family was paramount in Jo's life and she loved hosting family cookouts. Playing bingo was one of her favorite hobbies; she also enjoyed dancing in her younger years and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirate fan. Jo will be greatly missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Gerald L. "Cutter" Custer, Jr. and wife, Veronica "Widget" of Rimersburg; daughter, Emily S. Jones and husband, Gerald of Rimersburg; three grandchildren, Kristal Hornberger and husband, Terry, Richard Houser, and Emmalee Custer; considered as grandchildren, Trisha Davis, Brittany McGuirk, Brooke Schmader, and Colby Davis; great-grandchildren, Andria Edinger and Kammi Hornberger; a brother, Dean Confer and wife, Betty of Brookville; a sister, Faye Bigley and husband, Jim of Shippenville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jo was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Gerald L. Custer, Sr. who died December 27, 1993; brothers, Harry "Buck" Confer and George Confer; sisters, Alice Kiser and Inez Reedy.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main St., Rimersburg.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at the funeral home with the Rev. John A. Milliron officiating.

Burial will be in Rimersburg Cemetery, Rimersburg, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jo's honor to the American Cancer Society, Armstrong Unit, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
