Harry Edward ''Ed'' Shaffer
Harry Edward 'Ed' Shaffer, age 93, of Elderton, PA., died Friday, October 19, 2012, at Sugar Creek Rest.

He was born on June 16, 1919 in Marion Center, Indiana Co., PA to Harry O. and Martha Pearl (Williams) Shaffer.
Mr. Shaffer was a member of Elderton Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Elderton High School and during WWII he served in the Army as a Motor Sergeant with the 4th Armored Division. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge #313 of Indiana, PA, Syria Shrine and the Coudersport Consistory. Ed was instrumental in formatting the Elderton Fire Department where he held various offices in the organization during his time of service. He was a member of the Armstrong County Fireman's Association and the PA State Fireman's Association. He was also a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge and V.F.W., both of Indiana, PA. Along with his wife, he was the co-owner of the former Shaffer's Truck Sales and Service of Elderton, PA for over fifty years until their retirement in 1985.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his family and traveling with his wife and friends.
He is survived by three daughters, Lynn Graham and husband, David of Elderton, PA, Juanita Borowski of Tionesta, PA, and Kathy Walker of Jamestown, ND; three grandsons; one granddaughter, Dorthea Graham; and a nephew, Fred Shaffer and wife, Rosalie of Vandergrift, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 61 years Dorothy Ruth (Irons) Shaffer who died February 14, 2008; a grandson, Charles Shaffer who died May 5, 2007; three brothers, James, Kenneth, and Robert Shaffer; and one sister, Clara Edna Smith.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA where the Indiana Masonic Lodge #313 will hold a memorial service at 7:00 P.M.
Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, October 22, 2012, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Edward Gray officiating.
Interment will be at Elderton Cemetery in Elderton, Armstrong Co., PA.
