Robert W. Frailey, age 86, of Kittanning, PA, died Sunday, April 15, 2012, at his residence.

He was born April 13, 1926 in Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong Co., the son of Arthur and Wanda (Reefer) Frailey.

Bob was a lifetime resident of the area and honorably served in the US Army during World War II. He was employed as a coal truck driver for seven years with various trucking companies. He then went to work for Ed Shaffer as a mechanic, followed by the PA Department of State Highways as a welder. His final position prior to retiring was as a roof bolter for R&P Coal Company where he retired in 1988 after 18 ½ years of service. Bob was active in the community and was a member of Whitesburg United Methodist Church and the American Legion Cosgrove Post #523 in Rural Valley. He also belonged to the UMWA Local 600, William Penn Association in Rural Valley, Cherry Run Sportsman Club and JR Mechanics Association in Dayton. Gardening was one of his favorite hobbies and he also loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Roberta L. "Bobbie" Frailey, of Rural Valley, and Mary Boyle and husband, Hugh, of Ford City; three granddaughters, Shelbie Boyle, Rhonda Boyle, and Mindy Boyle; one grandson Joe Boyle and wife PJ; one great-grandson Cole J. Boyle; and sister, Grace Wagner of Cortland, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean L. (Ridenour) Frailey whom he married July 6, 1949 and who died August 24, 1998; brothers, Blair, Ray, Jacob H., Eugene, Wayne and Everett M. Frailey; sister, Margaret Altman; and great-grandson, Samuel Robert Boyle.

Friends will be received from 7-9 PM on Tuesday, April 17, 2012, 2-4 and 7-9PM on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, and 10AM until the time of funeral services at 11AM at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA where funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 with Pastor Craig Lindahl officiating. Military honors will immediately follow services at the funeral home presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Burial will be in Atwood Cemetery, Atwood, PA.
