Earl C. Robertson
Earl C. Robertson, age 90, of Elderton, PA, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Beacon Ridge Nursing Home in Indiana, PA with his wife, Doris by his side.

He was born July 18, 1921 in Washington, D.C., the son of James W. and Mary Bess (Sweeney) Robertson.
Earl lived in Silver Spring, MD, for most of his life. A proud marine, he served in the US Marines during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart for his efforts; one of five brothers who honorably served their country during the same period. In Silver Spring, Earl worked hard at running his family's hardware business until he retired in 1984. He lived and breathed hardware for many years and was passionate about making the business the best it could be. In June of 1986, Earl and his wife, Doris, moved to Elderton to be closer to her family in the country, but he was always a city boy at heart.
Earl became involved in the Elderton community and was a member of the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church and the American Legion. He was a big sports fan; his favorite team to cheer on was the Washington Redskins and he frequently took Doris to games in their younger years. Earl loved the outdoors, particularly flower gardens. He also enjoyed card-playing but his favorite pastime was to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Earl was loved by everyone that knew him, and his family and friends will always remember his sweet, laid-back and kind nature.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Doris (Richardson) Robertson, who he married February 1, 1947; two sons, Earl C. Robertson Jr. and his wife, Candy of Denver, CO, and Greg Robertson of Silver Spring, MD; a daughter, Cheryl Dunmire and husband Gordon of Indiana; seven grandchildren; Ian Robertson, Summer Robertson, Kimberly Robertson, Kevin Robertson, Rick Dunmire, Amy Dunmire, and Sandy Dunmire; one great-grandchild, Kenzie Robertson; and one sister, Rose Plant of MD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Bernie, Elmer, Everett, Jerome, and Allen Robertson; and three sisters, Edith Bray, Mildred Bernheimer, and Marie Riley.
A memorial service celebrating Earl's life will be held at 11AM on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church, Shelocta, PA with the Reverend Matthew Jones officiating. Military honors will immediately follow at the church by the American Legion Honor Guard. A light lunch will also be served for all in attendance.
Memorial contributions may be made in Earl's honor to the Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church, PO Box 177, Shelocta, PA 15774.
