Ernest W. McMeans

Ernest W. McMeans, 76, of Dayton, PA, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at his home.

He was born Oct. 9, 1948 in Dayton, PA; the last surviving child of Arthur A. and Bernice (McLaughlin) McMeans.

Ernest graduated from Dayton High School in 1966 and was a lifelong resident of the Dayton area. He served his country in the Army Reserves. Ernest owned and operated the McMeans Bus Company from 1980 thru 2012. He was a member of the Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Dayton District Vol. Fire Comp. Ernest enjoyed dirt track racing, his camping trips to Benezette and playing cards with his friends. Ernest greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Bonnie D. (Bussard) McMeans, whom he married on June 7, 1969; son, Shane R. McMeans and wife, Melissa of Dayton; grandchildren, Kian and Lily McMeans; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ronald, Donald, Arthur Bernon, Cecil, and Leonard McMeans; and his sister, Joann Griffith.
