Rose (Crytzer) Mazzotta
Rose (Crytzer) Mazzotta, 91, of Kittanning, died peacefully on July 8, 2026, at her home surrounded by loving family.She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Rose was born July 17, 1934, in Kittanning to the late Mearl "Chalky" and Thelma "Polly" (Kunselman) Crytzer. She graduated from Kittanning High School in 1952 and went on to attend Allegheny Valley Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1956 and becoming a registered nurse. She worked at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital on the maternity floor taking care of new babies and their mothers. Even after retiring from nursing, Rose remained a true nurse at heart, always caring for and looking after those she loved.
Rose married her beloved husband, Richard "Dick" Mazzotta, on November 9, 1956 and they shared 51 beautiful years together until his passing on January 3, 2008. Family was the center of Rose's life, and she found her greatest happiness in the love and company of those closest to her. From growing up surrounded by her parents, brother, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins to raising her own children and later becoming the beloved "Gum" and "Ma" to her grandchildren, she cherished every stage of life.
Rose also treasured the time she spent with her friends and neighbors, always welcoming others with kindness and genuine care. She took great pride in her loved ones and found her greatest joy in the relationships she nurtured throughout her life.
Rose's hobbies included gardening, cooking, canning (which she was famous for her homemade Spaghetti sauce), shopping, going to the theater, luncheons with her cousins, eating her favorite foods (especially pasta and sweets), doing word search puzzles, reading the newspaper, and watching the news. Rose also was a lifelong member of Union Avenue United Methodist Church in Kittanning.
Rose lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and cherished memories.
Rose is survived by her children: daughter, Beth (Lynn) George of Kittanning, and son, Michael (Emily) Mazzotta of Kittanning; grandchildren: Jacob George of Pittsburgh, Kelsie (Matt) Mazzotta Geisel of Kittanning, and Kaitlyn (Ryan) Frailey of Kittanning; great-grandchildren: Ryan and Parker Frailey.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Crytzer.
Friends and family will be received from 10 AM until the of services at 12 PM on Friday July 10, 2026 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA with Rev. Terri Wells officiating.
Interment will be at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA.
