Judith Eileen Emminger

Judith Eileen (Scott) Emminger, 85, of Kittanning, went home to be with Jesus and her beloved husband, Jim, after a courageous battle with breast cancer on Sunday, April 7, 2024. She was at home with her family. Throughout her journey, she remained in good spirits and kept her sense of humor and spunk.

Judy was born on August 6, 1938 in Bellingham, Washington. She was raised by her mother, the late Edith Dixon Schrecengost, and stepfather, the late Dwight Schrecengost. Judy graduated from Kittanning High School in 1956. On October 25, 1958, she married James E. Emminger. They went on to have five children together.

Judy was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Kittanning. Her hobbies included reading, watching home improvement shows, shopping (sometimes just to people-watch), gardening and working in her flower beds, and sports. She also loved animals, especially her canine companions. Her favorite vacation spot was Orcas Island as she enjoyed whale watching.

Judy was a hard worker her entire life. She worked as a secretary in the office of the Agricultural Extension Association in the Armstrong County Court House, was a homemaker, and retired from Moonlight Mushroom Farm.

Left behind to forever cherish her memory are her children: Beth (Joe) Stivason of McGrann, PA, Jim "Burr" Emminger of Kittanning, PA, Pam Emminger of Kittanning, PA, Penny (Chuck) Cogley of Kittanning, PA, and Doug (Theresa) Emminger of Conway, SC; her grandchildren: Courtney, Zach, Nick, and McKenzie Cogley, Ashley Rocco, Jesse and Tanner Stivason, Jacob and Jordan Emminger, Jamie, Philip, Nathan, Isaac, and Andrew Emminger, and Sarah Emminger; 11 great-grandchildren with two more arriving this summer; and many extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Emminger in 1984, sister, Kay Hoag, and brother Matt Dosch.

The family would like to thank the staff at both the Richard G. Laube Cancer Center at ACMH and AHN Hospice-Healthcare at Home who embraced Judy and her family as they navigated their way through her progression.

Funeral and burial services will be attended privately by her family. Burial will be beside her husband at Saint Mary's Cemetery, Kittanning.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Judy's name to the Richard G. Laube Cancer Center at ACMH, Orphans of the Storm, or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
