John D. Ramer

John D. Ramer, 83, of Shelocta, PA, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.

He was born May 8, 1935 in Shelocta, the son of Leason and Melva (Douglas) Ramer.

John was last employed as a mechanic by Beckwith Machinery in Indiana, but his true passion was farming. He loved being outside, in nature, and spending time with the animals. He was a 70-year member of the Plumcreek Church of the Brethren, were he enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters both young and old. John delighted in helping those in need and blessed many by working with Habitat for Humanity and Church of the Brethren Disaster Relief.

John is survived by his wife, Donna (Berringer) Ramer, of Greensburg; sons, Ren Ramer and wife, Anya, of Lake Waynoka, OH, and Stephen Ramer and wife, Amy, of Greensburg; daughter, Nicole Ramer, of Greensburg; grandchildren, Ysa and Sam Ramer, and Tyler, Wyatt and Kayla Ramer; brother, Glen Ramer and wife, Mary Jane, of Vandergrift; sisters, Linda Johns and husband, Andy, of Plumcreek Twp., and Betty Myer, of Virginia; sister-in-law, Carol Ramer, of Homer City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Mark Ramer; brothers, Howard and Harold Ramer; sister, Vera Bright; and infant sisters, Alice and Donna Mae Ramer.

The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main St., Elderton, PA 15736.

Additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sandy Peterman officiating.

Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
