James ''Jim'' L. Henderson
James "Jim" L. Henderson, age 78, of Shelocta, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Kittanning Care Center.He was born on July 1, 1933 in South Bend Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the son of Steele and Charlotte (McIntire) Henderson.
Jim lived in the Shelocta area most of his life and worked for over 45 years as an equipment operator of the Local #66 Operators Union. He loved spending time outdoors and was a member of the Shelocta Sportsmen Club. One of Jim's closest companions was his 14-year-old Pomeranian, Chester; the dog was like one of his family members. Of all the wonderful memories with his family and friends, his favorites were when he was spending time with his family. They will never forget the special times with Jim spent out by the pond, and those cherished memories will live on forever.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Janet B. Henderson, who he married on August 10, 1954; sons, James "Randy" Henderson, of Ligonier, PA, Thomas Henderson, of Imperial, PA, and Gregory Henderson and fiancée Traci Shoop, of Rural Valley; grandchildren, Amy Henderson, Thomas Henderson, Ashlee Henderson, Trevor Henderson and fiancée Kayla Kirkpatrick, Meghan Henderson, Joshua Henderson, Kaleb Henderson, Kody Henderson, Kyle Henderson and Austin Bussard; great-granddaughter, Stevie Lovely; brother, Bill Henderson and wife Annabelle, of Shelocta and John Henderson and wife Gloria, of Gastown; sisters, Leora Rising, of Indiana, PA; Luana Coulter and husband Mike, of Indiana, PA, Linda Ruchel and husband Dave, of Ohio, and Loretta Turk, of McIntyre, PA, Sherrill Pastorick of Greensburg; and brother-in-law, John Hawk, of New York.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Henderson; and sisters, Lorraine Silvis and Lois Hawk.
Friends will be received from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Monday November 7, 2011 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, before the time of funeral services at 2:00 PM on Monday, with the Rev. Herman Ridley officiating.
