Harry E. "Butch" Smeltzer

Harry E. "Butch" Smeltzer, 80, of Elderton, PA, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2025 at his residence.

He was born August 31, 1945 in Kittanning, PA, the son of Kenneth I. and Anna Mae (Wilhelm) Smeltzer.

Butch was a lifelong resident of Armstrong County and graduated from Elderton High School in 1965. He honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. For many years he worked as a spray painter, first for Pullman Standard and later for Fisher Scientific. Butch played Santa Claus for years in the community. Gardening and woodworking were Butch's favorite hobbies, and he will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sondra K. (Rearick) Smeltzer, whom he married September 13, 1968; sisters, Hannah Hartman and Thelma Reedy, all of Kittanning; nephews, Richard, Robert and Rodney Reedy, and Eddie McGrady; and nieces, Margie Riggle, Amanda Perry, and Christine Vandenberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

At Butch's request, services will be private.

Interment will be in Whitesburg Presbyterian Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
