William J. "Wild Bill" Waugaman, Sr.

William J. "Wild Bill" Waugaman, Sr., 70, of Shelocta, PA, passed away on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024 at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born on June 1, 1953 in Allegheny Valley Hospital, the son of Mary (Jasper) and Roy H. Waugaman, Jr.

Bill graduated in 1971 from Elderton High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Gastown. Bill was employed as a coal miner and cleaning plant operator for TJS Mining and most recently, Sharp's Paving. He previously owned Waugaman Auto Sales in Shelocta and Waugaman Auto Body in Spring Church. Bill belonged to the Shannock Valley VFW Post #6555 and the Apollo Masonic Lodge #437. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, and the Shelocta Sportsman's Club and the Sinnemahoning Sportsman's Club for many years. Bill loved classic cars, working on cars, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed going to the family camp in Tylersburg with his wife, Cathy, gardening and riding Harleys. Bill adored his grandchildren and the time he spent with them. He will be lovingly remembered for his big heart and his wild personality.

His memory will be cherished by his son, William J. Waugaman Jr. and wife, Nikki of Eau Claire; daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Waugaman of Kittanning; his grandchildren, Jake, Luke, Dylan, Dave, and Alex; a sister, Nancy L. Wofford and husband, Jeff of Worthington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Cathy Jean (Skinner) Waugaman, whom he married on March 30, 1974 and who passed away on Dec. 22, 2022; his brother, Roy H. Waugaman III, who passed away on Sept. 19, 2013; and a sister, Barbara J. Waugaman who passed away on Jan. 18, 2019.

The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 P.M. on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, Pa, where a Masonic Service will be held at 7 p.m.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2 2024, at the Christ Lutheran Church, 205 Gastown Road, Shelocta, with the Rev. Joyce Dix Weiers, STS officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.

Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
