Mona June Yount

Mona June Yount, 94, of Elderton, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 at St. Andrews Village in Indiana, Pa.

She was born February 20, 1926 in Erie, PA the daughter of Jacob S. Uplinger and Elva (Farster) Uplinger Lowry.

Mona was a 1944 graduate from Millcreek High School in Erie, but she called Cherry Run, Plumcreek Township her home for 54 years before moving to Elderton. She was very involved with Whitesburg United Methodist Church and participated in the United Methodist Women organization. When she had the time, she loved to read and enjoyed craftwork. Mona's beautiful flower gardens will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by a son, Allen R. Yount of Shelocta and wife, Sandra; a daughter, Marion J. Townsend and husband Robert of Spring Church, PA; a grandson, Mark Townsend; three granddaughters, Bonnie Hawkins and husband, Charles, Leslie Meyer and husband, Mike and Stephanie Hayes and husband, Ray; a great-granddaughter, Lucy Mae Meyer and a step-great-grandson, J.R. Hayes.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Clarence F. Yount, who passed away March 8, 1973; an infant son and her sister, Junia Etta Honhart.

Friends and family will be received from 6-8 PM on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at the Clark Chapel of Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 Main Street, Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held at 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM on Monday, May 18, 2020, at Whitesburg United Methodist Church, 12127 US Route 422, Kittanning, Pa. with the Rev. Rick Butler and Rev. Craig Lindahl co-officiating.

Due to current regulations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, no more than 25 people will be permitted inside the funeral home at a time, guests are respectfully asked to wear a mask or face covering.

Burial will follow at Whitesburg United Methodist Cemetery, Whitesburg Township, Armstrong County.
