Lloyd W. Geer, 85, Fairfield, PA died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at the York Hospital.

Lloyd was born June 5, 1930 in Ford City, PA, the son of the late Alvin and Hazel Claypool Geer. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, LaRhue Bowser Geer.

Mr. Geer was an active member of the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren, where he was a past Sunday School teacher, a Moderator, a member of the Stewards Commission, the Church Board Chair, a Deacon, an Annual and District Conference Delegate and a member of the choir. Lloyd graduated from Ford City High School in 1948. He then served in the US Navy aboard the USS Gunston Hall a LSD-5. Following his service, he was employed with West Penn Electric in Greensburg, PA. After several years, he attended Indiana Tech University in Fort Wayne, IN and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering. Following his graduation, Lloyd returned to West Penn Electric as an electrical engineer. In 1969, he accepted a position with Adams Electric and worked for them until his retirement in 1986. After retiring, he became an international consultant for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association in Washington, DC. He traveled around the world helping countries develop electric systems, working in Yemen, Belize, the West Bank, Indonesia and Philippines. Lloyd was very active in the community and served as president of the Gettysburg Kiwanis Club, a 4H leader, a member of the Fairfield Lions Club. He also served on the Fairfield Borough Council Planning Commission as a commissioner.

In addition to his wife, Lloyd is survived by his son, Bryan Geer and wife Lois of Silver Spring, MD, his daughter, Sue Ann Geer of Gettysburg, PA, two step-grandsons: Jeffrey Lamb and his wife Olesya and Kevin Lamb, and his sister, Gail Tripp of Center Hill, PA.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 27th at 11:00 AM from the Gettysburg Church of the Brethren with Pastor Richard Godfrey officiating. There will be a viewing Friday evening February 26th at the Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg, PA from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Saturday at the church from 10:00 Am until the time of the service.

There will also be a viewing Monday evening at the Bauer Funeral Home in Kittanning, PA from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A graveside committal service will be held on Tuesday, March 1st at 11:00 AM at the Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Kittanning, PA with Pastor Donald Peters officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Honor Guard.
