Mary Ellen Blystone

Mary Ellen Blystone, aged 72, of Brick Church, died Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital after a long battle with diabetes and congestive heart failure. She was born July 29, 1940 in Kittanning, Armstrong Co., PA a daughter of the late William E. and Anna M. E. (Tomlinson) Rupp.

Mary Ellen was a member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church and was a lifelong resident of the Brick Church area. In her earlier years, she enjoyed teaching swimming at the local YMCA where the kids affectionately called her "Mary Mellon". She was also a member of the ladies sewing group known as the Knotty Ladies at her church, donating most of the items made to the Grane Hospice of Pittsburgh, local nursing homes and the Mechling-Shakley Veterans Home.

She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Arnold E. Blystone, who she married March 9, 1959; sons, Edward Blystone and friend, Anna, of McIntyre, PA, Gregory Blystone and wife, Deborah, of Norfolk, VA, Bradley Blystone, of Brick Church, and Brian Blystone and wife, Jessica, of Brick Church; daughter, Rebecca White, of Ford City; grandchildren, Jeremy Blystone, Jason, Heather and husband, Jason Abernathie, and Angela Blystone, Ashley Blystone, and Adam, Daniel and Matthew White; great-grandchildren, Justin, Jeffery and Kylie Huber; sisters, Hester Shick and Judy Lamison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and three brothers-in-law.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Clark Chapel of Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 South Main St., Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the funeral home with the Rev. April M. Dailey officiating.

Interment will be at St. Michael's Cemetery, Burrell Twp., Armstrong Co., Pennsylvania.

Contributions may be made in Mary Ellen's honor to a charity of one's choice.
