Brett Alan Stitt

Brett Alan Stitt, age 29, of Kittanning, PA., passed away Friday, October 12, 2012 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on September 17, 1983 in Kittanning to Mark A. Stitt and Lorraine (Dosch) Stennett.

Brett was a lifetime resident of Kittanning and was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. He graduated from Kittanning High School in 2001 and earned a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Youngstown State University. From a young age, Brett's favorite place to be was outdoors. As a child, Brett had many fond memories of spending time with his parents and building cabins with his brother, Chris, and cousin, Todd. He also gigged frogs and set turtle hooks. Trapping beavers with his brother and their wives was another of his favorite activities. He always had a blast spending time at Jim Toy's camp with family and friends, where Grandma June always kept his belly full. Brett and his brother loved spending quality time hunting on Brenda's farm. One of Brett's most memorable times was his most recent bear hunt with his brother in Manitoba, where he successfully shot a cinnamon black bear.

He was happiest when spending time with his wife and they loved traveling to different places, especially Punta Cana, Mexico, Disney World and the beach. They also enjoyed going to their favorite restaurant, Applebee's. Brett was also an avid movie lover and he liked going to see the latest movie releases with his close pals. Those who knew Brett will always remember his infectious smile and joyous laugh. He was very goal-oriented, mild-mannered and helpful to anyone he met. Brett's legacy will forever live on in the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brittanny (Miller) Stitt, who he married August 29, 2009; father, Mark A. Stitt and wife, Margaret Faith-Stitt, of Ford City; mother, Lorraine M. Stennett and husband, Tim, of Kittanning; brother, Chris E. Stitt and wife, Jaysa, of Ford City; paternal grandfather, John F. Stitt Sr., of Indiana, PA; maternal grandmother, June E. Dosch, of Kittanning; step-brothers, Zachary Faith of Kittanning, Chase Faith of Ford City and Scott Stennett and wife, Brenda, of Yatesboro; step-sister, Jen Johnson and husband, Andrew, of Kittanning; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Terry and Terri Miller, of Kittanning; sister-in-law, Tiffanny Miller, of Kittanning; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Shirley J. Stitt, and maternal grandfather, Jack Dosch.

Family and friends will be received from 4-8 PM on Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 North McKean Street, Kittanning, PA.

At the family's request, funeral services will be private.
