Donna J. Higginson

Donna J. Higginson, 85, of Erie, PA, passed away on June 3, 2024 at the Hospice of Warren County.

She was born on Aug. 2, 1938 in Cadogan, PA the daughter of late Clarence and Gladys (Whiteman) Kane.

Donna graduated from Kittanning High School in 1956. With her recent return to the area, Donna was thrilled to have the opportunity to attend once again her home church, Trinity Global Methodist in Conneaut Lake, PA, and reunite with lifelong dear friends. In her younger years, Donna enjoyed cheerleading and playing (later coaching) women's softball. When she came to know Jesus as her Savior and actively involved in her church, Donna transferred that love to teaching children's Sunday School and a passion for contributing to/ leading Children's Vacation Bible School programs. She loved the study of God's Word and helping it come alive for children was her mission. She also loved time with family and friends whether a friendly competitive golf game, sitting on her sister's front porch swing to laughing and enjoying a good cup of coffee and ALWAYS rooting on her Steelers. Now she is joyously reunited with her sisters (and brothers) in heaven but will be missed by the dear friends she leaves behind (for now.) By His Amazing Grace, it is now fully well with her soul and she is singing (on key) with the angel chorus "Holy, Holy, Holy, worthy is the Lamb."

Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband Donald E. Higginson, whom she married January 26, 1957. Highschool sweethearts, Donna and Don were blessed with 4 children; her sons, Greg Higginson of Erie, PA, Donald E. Higginson, Jr. and wife Marcie of Elgin, IL; daughters, Diana Kengott and husband Robert of Davenport, IA, Michelle Hughes and husband, Kevin of Mt. Vernon OH; 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul Kane and James Kane; and sisters, Mary Kendall, Joanne Kane, Janice Neal and Joy Hagofsky.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lawn Haven Burial Estates with the Pastor Fred Neal, III officiating.

Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, E. Franklin Twp., PA.
