Robert A. Smeltzer

Robert A. "Bob" Smeltzer, 82, of Shelcota, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021 at his home.

He was born Oct. 7, 1938 in Girty, to Harlin L. and Clara C. (Suman) Smeltzer.

Bob graduated from Gardena High School in Calif. then worked as an iron worker with Local No. 29 out of Portland, OR until his retirement in 2000. He loved to travel and his job took him all over the U.S. where Rita and Bob would drive in his motorhome. Bob loved to snow ski. His favorite place was Mt. Hood, Oregon, where he enjoyed skiing with his son Greg. He was lovingly known as Brother Bob for his kind, generous nature. Bob was always there to lend a helping hand to his friends.

His memory will be cherished by his life partner, Rita Remmick of Shelocta; a son, Greg Smeltzer of Thailand; two daughters, Teri Zepko and husband, Lenny of Chandler, AZ and Vicki Hipp of Vancover, WA; five grandchildren, Karlie, Travis, Talon, Ryan and Sean; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ray Smeltzer and wife, Beverly of South Bend Township.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Lee Smeltzer; sisters, Delores Alma Smeltzer and Donna McClain; and a step-sister, Velva E. Wingren.

Services will be private.

Burial will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
