Doris Marie Robertson

Doris Marie Robertson, 90, of Elderton, PA, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Maple Valley Personal Care Home.

She was born August 12, 1927 in Rochester Mills, PA, the daughter of Lindsay Earl Richardson and Sara (Potts) Richardson.

Doris grew up in Indiana County and graduated from Indiana High School in 1943. After graduation, she moved to Washington DC to work for the FBI. She met her husband, Earl C. Robertson, while in DC and after marrying on February 1, 1947, they moved to Silver Spring, MD. In 1951, Earl and Doris purchased Hunter Hardware in Silver Spring and ran the family's hardware business until retiring in 1984.

In 1986, Doris and Earl moved to Elderton to be closer to family. She became very involved with the community and enjoyed participating in events at the Elderton Senior Center. Doris was also a member of Shelocta Community Presbyterian Church where she taught Vacation Bible School and sang in the choir.

Doris loved the outdoors and looked forward to fishing and spending time at camp. In her free time, she enjoyed reading and playing cards. Doris had the gift of making friends with everyone she met and especially loved being with her family. She will be best remembered for always having a great story to tell and for having a wonderful sense of humor.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Earl C. Robertson Jr. and wife, Candy, of Denver, CO, and Greg Robertson, of Silver Spring, MD; daughter, Cheryl Dunmire and husband, Gordon, of Indiana, PA; grandchildren; Ian Robertson, Summer Robertson, Kimberly Robertson, Kevin Robertson, Rick Dunmire, Amy Dunmire, and Sandy Dunmire; great-grandchild, Kenzie Robertson; and brother, Don Richardson and wife, Rose, of Harborcreek, PA.

She was preceded in death by his parents; loving husband, Earl C. Robertson, whom she married February 1, 1947 and who died April 13, 2012; brothers, Ruben, Blaine, Edward and Craig Richardson; and sisters, Lucille Kelly, Jane McLaughlin, Mildred Thomas, Ruth Lynch and Carolyn Hogan.

A celebration of life service will be held later this summer.
