John L. "Jack" Heigley

John L. "Jack" Heigley, 94, of Kittanning, PA, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 22, 2018.

He was born June 19, 1923 in West Kittanning, PA, to Fred Yost Heigley and Harriet Blanche (Hawk) Heigley.

John was a lifelong resident of Kittanning and honorably served as a boatman's mate, second class, in the US Navy during World War II from 1943 until 1946. A union carpenter for many years, he worked for a number of companies, including Henry Shaffer Company, Sanderson and Porter of New York and Pevarnik Brothers of Latrobe. John helped many friends and neighbors with home and building repairs. To recognize John having over 72 years of continued service with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local Carpenter Union #759 presented him with a special plaque. He was also a member of Simpson Bible Church since 1947.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda Lu Hutchinson (Thomas), and Jackie I. Yockey (Donald), all of Kittanning; grandchildren, John Hutchinson (Sherry), Jennifer Hutchinson-McCall (Brian), and Julie Julius (Josh); great-grandchildren, Hunter and Stephaney Hutchinson, Xavier and Kash Julius, and Teddy and Madeline McCall; sister-in-law, Edna Heigley; niece, Mary Margaret McCafferty; and nephew, William Fred Heigley, Jr., all of Kittanning.

John was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Alberta I. "Betty" (Lauster) Heigley, whom he married October 27, 1947 and who died February 9, 2016; brother, William Fred Heigley, Sr. who died October 11, 2007; and infant sister, Shirley Heigley.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM on Friday, April 27, 2018, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Chuck King officiating. Following services, Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard

Interment will be in Salem Hills United Church of Christ Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
