Ruby I. Sloniger

Ruby I. Sloniger, 90, of Dayton, PA, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Heritage Meadows Personal Care Home.

She was born October 22, 1927, the daughter of Harry H. and Viola E. (Rush) Simmers.

Ruby was a long-time resident of Dayton and worked at Stockdale's Store for 27 years. She was known for being a meticulous, hard-worker and who always looked for ways to help others. Ruby was a member of Dayton United Methodist Church and loved playing cards and doing yardwork in her free time. She enjoyed going to picnics, eating and attending family reunions.

Her memory will be cherished by her sister, Shirley Porter and husband, Leland "Pete", of Dayton, PA; brother, Allen R. Simmers and wife, Cindy, of Dayton, PA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ralph L. Enterline, who died in 1977; second husband, Merle Sloniger, who died in 1982; brothers, Harry L. and Michael Simmers; sister, Virginia Pennington; infant brother, Jimmy Simmers; and infant sister, Dorothy Simmers.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 E. Main St., Dayton, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, February 5, 2018 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gene Barrett officiating.

Interment will be in Emory Chapel Cemetery, Dayton, PA.
