Nancy E. Harkleroad

Nancy E. Harkleroad, 77, formerly of Elderton, PA, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017 at the Southwest Veterans Center in Pittsburgh.

She was born November 30, 1939 in Kittanning Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the daughter of Norman and Olive (Wright) Miller.

Nancy was a lifetime resident of the area and, until her marriage to Sloan Harkleroad in June of 1962, worked in the meat department at Andy's Market. After her marriage, she dedicated her life to caring for her family and foster children. Nancy was a member of United Rockville Lutheran Church and in her free time enjoyed camping and traveling. She was also creative and liked sewing and doing craftwork. Her family and friends will always remember her selfless and kind spirit, and she will be greatly missed.

Her memory will be carried on with love by her sons, Norman W. Harkleroad and wife, Mary Beth, of Pittsburgh, and Lee T. Harkleroad and wife, Marcy, of Kittanning; daughter, Grace Dillen-Evans and husband, Mark, of Brush Valley; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard Miller and wife, Cheerio, of Rose Valley, PA and Rodger Miller, of Ford City; sisters, Kathleen Mechling and husband, George, of Ford City, and Mary Claire and husband, Dan, of California; brother-in-law, Philip Ramstad, of Ford City; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Sloan R. Harkleroad, who passed away April 13, 2017; and sisters, Jessie Virginia Shotts and Lynne Ramstad.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, 238 S. Main Street, Elderton.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Kemp.

Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Ford City, Pennsylvania.
