Joseph Alan WinslowJoseph Alan Winslow, 64, of Sligo, PA, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born October 21, 1949 in East Brady, PA, the son of J.C. and Dorothy (McDowell) Winslow
Joseph was a lifelong resident of the area and worked for RFI Energy for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator and crew leader. He belonged to the United Mine Workers and served as a union representative for the organization. Joseph was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the VFW in Rimersburg. Golfing was his first passion and he also enjoyed going to the casino with friends. Bird watching was another of his favorite pastimes and he and his wife, Carole, traveled many places to see different birds. Joseph's family and friends will always remember his wonderful sense of humor and generous spirit.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Carole (Baker) Winslow, whom he married August 23, 2008; daughters, Melissa Lynn Kato and husband, Wayne N., of Midland, MI, and Kelly Bauer and husband, Rick, of Lucinda; grandchildren, David Alan Tascarella, Matthew Frank Tascarella and Elizabeth Kathryn Bauer; brother, Pat Winslow and wife, Jean, of Parker, Tom Winslow and wife, Beverly, of Spraggs, Dave Winslow and wife, Judy, of Gahanna, OH, and Paul Winslow, of East Brady; and sisters, Susan Mastro, of Raleigh, NC, and Joan Strauser and husband, Russ, of St. Petersburg.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; son, Arthur Alan Winslow; and sister, Dorothy Hogan.
Relatives and friends may visit from 11 AM until the time of the blessing service at 1 PM on Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, PA, with the Father William Kuba as celebrant.
