Sophie C. Patcyk

Sophie C. (Zielinski) Patcyk, 89, of West Kittanning, PA., died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at her residence, with family at her side.

She was born July 1, 1924 in Kittanning, to Peter and Helen (Samsel) Zielinski.

Sophie was a lifetime resident of Kittanning and was a member of St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. She also belonged to the Catholic Daughters of America. Sophie was employed as a travel counselor for West Penn AAA for 19 years until her retirement in 1989. In her free time, she enjoyed reading books and solving crossword puzzles. Sophie was happiest when spending time with her family, and her love and devotion to them will never be forgotten.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Thomas A. Patcyk and wife, Gwen, of Leechburg; daughters, Sandra L. Lysakowski and husband, Jan, of Ford City, Jane C. Grimes and husband, Michael, of Freeport, and Jacqueline Mazurek and husband, Ronald, of Glenshaw; grandchildren, Tracey Ruffner and husband, Brian, Jessica Evans, Tristen Patcyk, Weston Patcyk and Alicia Patcyk; great grandchildren, Kyrstin, Jordyn, Colin, Conner and Pyper; and sister-in-law, Barbara Zielinski, of Plymouth, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 65 years, Stanley Patcyk, who died June 19, 2012; daughter, Kathleen Evans, who died April 22, 2013; brothers, John R., Frank M. and Fred P. Zielinski; one infant sister; and son-in-law, Paul Evans.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning, PA, where the Catholic Daughters of America will meet at 6:30 PM to recite the rosary.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at St. Mary, Our Lady Guadalupe Church, 101 W. High Street, Kittanning with the Reverend Douglas E. Dorula as celebrant.

Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Kittanning, PA.
