Raymond Leroy George

Raymond Leroy George, age 77 of Shelocta, PA, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born November 16, 1934 in Leechburg, PA, the son of Clarence and Nellie Pearl (Emahiser) George.

Raymond was employed for a number of years with various employers, including tree-trimming services. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Raymond enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Pirates and spending time with his grandchildren, especially Anne.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Louise (Reefer) George, whom he married September 2, 1961; sons, Raymond Leroy George, Jr. of Indiana, PA, Walter Clarence George of Elderton, PA, and Jeffrey Allen George and wife, Annette, of Elderton; daughters, Lori Ann Drylie and husband Jim of Shelocta, Crystal Lynn George, of McGrann, Susan Jayne Stalnecker and husband, Martin, of New Castle, and Esther Porter and husband, Joseph, of the state of Indiana; nineteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur P. George and wife, Bonnie, of Indiana, PA; and sister, Margaret Miller, of Rural Valley, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Homer L., James W., Edgar E., Theodore "Dutch", William C., Walter L., and David R.; sisters, Florence Sersign, Minnie M. Kaufman, Carrie L. Mechling and Annabelle Roupe; and infant sister, Evelyn June George.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street Elderton, PA where funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 10, 2012 with Pastor Denny Marshall officiating.

Interment will be in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
