Eric Beatty Shoemaker

Eric Beatty Shoemaker, 64, of Dayton, PA died June 10, 2014 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Brookville, PA on July 27, 1949 to the late Wayne C. Shoemaker and E. Louise (Hanst) Shoemaker.

He was the Owner and Operator of Shoemaker Transportation and loved "chasing the white line." A member of Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church, he served as an Elder and operated sound and video for many years of church services for shut-ins.

His main love was his wife of 46 years, his children and grandchildren. Eric had a generous heart and was an anonymous donor to many causes, recently becoming involved in Ford City Relay for Life. Eric's interests included spending time with his children and grandchildren and traveling to new places. Beyond all interests, he found true solace in his garage, polishing trucks.

He married Peggy Dianne (Barrett) on November 22, 1967.

Children include two sons: David (Deb) Shoemaker - Winter Garden, FL; Venton Shoemaker - Cabot, PA; Two daughters: Shari (Mike) Kercheval - Elizabethtown, KY; Sara Shoemaker and (Brian Crytzer) - Kittanning, PA.

Five Grandchildren round out the family circle: Erica (Ben) Frederick, Nick Byerly and fiance Alyssa Smith, Tyler Shoemaker, Cassie Shoemaker, Dutch Shoemaker, and one future grandson due in September.

Survived by two brothers Alan (Linda) Shoemaker of Dayton, PA; Kent (Shelley) Shoemaker of New Bethlehem, PA; one sister Gretchen (Jerry) Powers of Ford City, PA. And one special friend and caring nurse, Judy Walter.

Friends and relatives will be received from 1-4 and 6-9 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 E. Main St., Dayton, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Dayton Glade Run Presbyterian Church, 2540 Dayton Smicksburg Rd., Dayton, PA, with Sheila Wadding officiating.

Interment will be in Smicksburg Methodist Cemetery, Smicksburg, PA.
