Mary Mae Garver
Mary Mae Garver, age 95, of Rimersburg, PA passed away Tuesday, December 25, 2012, at Clarview Nursing Home, Sligo.She was born February 16, 1917 in Madison Twp., Clarion County, the daughter of William and Margaret (Montgomery) Haggerty.
Mary was raised in Lawsonham and lived in the area her entire life. She married Thurston Garver on April 1, 1935 and they shared nearly 43 years together prior to his death on March 31, 1978. She was a long time member of the Lawsonham Methodist Church where she participated in the Methodist Women's Society and sang in the church choir. Faith and family were a large part of Mary's life. She was a fabulous baker and took great pleasure in Sunday afternoon meals with her family and baking bread and pies that would warm any heart. Mary was skillful in sewing and created many beautiful handmade quilts for family members over the years. It was as a wife, mother and grandmother that she found her true calling, devoting herself wholly to her family. Her generosity, selflessness and unflagging support will be missed. Her love, expressed in words, in food and in time, will be irreplaceable.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her three children, Dilbert "Bud" Garver, Dennis Garver, and Donna Thorpe and her husband, Ed, all of Rimersburg; eleven grandchildren, Eric Garver, Scott Garver, Tina Bowser, Douglas Craig, Trisha Neideritter, Denise Garver, Chris McNutt, Jason McNutt, Karen Lopez, Devon Thorpe, and Dana Thorpe; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Virginia Swartz of Rimersburg.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thurston Garver; a daughter, Ella Craig; and an infant grandchild, Todd Craig.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 758 Main Street, Rimersburg, PA.
Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM at the funeral home on Friday, December 28, 2012, with the Reverend Clayton Rhoades and Reverend Dennis Fetter officiating.
Burial will be in Lawsonham Cemetery, Madison Twp., Clarion Co., PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in Mary's honor to Lawsonham Methodist Church, 3511 Lawsonham Road, Rimersburg, PA 16248.
