Katherine Jean Conrath

Katherine Jean Conrath, age 91, of Kingman, AZ, formerly of Penn Run, PA, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at La Bella Assisted Living in Kingman.

She was born July 26, 1921 in Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, to Blaine and Mary (Ramer) Miller.

Jean and her family arrived in Kingman in 1958 from Penn Run. Her service to the Kingman community began almost before they were unpacked. One of Jean's biggest commitments was to the fight against cancer. She lost a husband, a son, a sister, a brother, and a sister-in-law to this devastating disease. Jean joined the American Cancer Society in 1958. She helped start he Cancer Arts and Crafts Fair in 1975. Fundraising efforts were reorganized under the title of the Kingman Cancer Care Unit. Jean had been a member of the St. John's Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women since 1958.

Her memory will be cherished by a son, Roger Conrath of Kingman, AZ; a daughter, Maxine Small of Oregon; seven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth W. Conrath who died in 1990; a son, Robert, and a daughter, Martha; five brothers and one sister.

Interment will be privately held in Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, PA.
