Fred R. Ferris, Sr.

Fred R. Ferris, Sr., 90, of Rimersburg, PA passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Clarion Hospital.

He was born April 9, 1934 in East Brady, PA, to Richard and Grace I. (Ashbaugh) Ferris.

Fred proudly served in the U.S Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a painter at Pullman Standard and later as a boiler tech at Penreco Refinery retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Baker Street Church of God. Fred enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, picnics, and socializing with anyone around him, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His memory will be cherished by his sons, Fred Ferris, Jr and wife, Jona of Sligo, Tom Ferris of Franklin, Brad Ferris and wife, Renee of Huey, Michael Ferris of Florida, Cole Ferris of Lubbock, TX, and Brandon Ferris of Rimersburg; daughters, Terri Murphy and husband, Jim of Rimersburg and Tammi Radecker and husband, Edward of Sligo; grandchildren, J. J. Ferris, Elizabeth Nicole Ferris, Caleb Reedy and wife Katlyn, Brent Murphy and wife Shelly, Rebecca Murphy, Tyler Murphy, Shane Murphy, Bella Murphy, Katie Radaker, Ashley Meier and 19 great-grandchildren and one-great-great grandchild.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Gloria Jean (Schons) Ferris, who he married on April 12, 1958 and who passed away on Feb. 26, 2013; his brother, James Ferris, his sister, Arveda "Honey" Smiley; and a daughter-in-law, Joyce Ferris.

Family and friends will be received from 11 AM until the time of services at 1 PM on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at the Baker Street Church of God, 160 Veteran St., Rimersburg, with Rev. John A. Milliron officiating. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post # 454 and VFW Post #7132.

Interment will be in Rimersburg Cemetery, Rimersburg, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Fred's name to a veteran's organization of your choice.
