Elsie M. Slagle

Elsie M. Slagle, 97, of Freeport, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at Assisted Living at Rosebrook in Sarver, PA.

She was born July 15, 1927 in Templeton, PA to Incel and Martha (Sanford) Anderson.

Elsie was lifelong resident of Armstrong County. She was employed by Big River Manufacturing and later with Kittanning Dairy Queen. She attended the Faith Cathedral in Manor Township. She enjoyed caring for her dog, cocoa, her family and her grandchildren. Elsie will be lovingly remembered as a true country girl who loved her family.

She will be deeply missed by her son, Jerry J. Slagle and wife, Sharon of Stow, OH; two daughters, Cheryl D. Delaney and husband, William of Templeton and Lisa D. Tomkiewicz and husband, Charles of Freeport; ten grandchildren, Jeff, Jared, Janine, Melissa, Robyn, Gerald, Michael, Nicholas, Julie, and Kaila; four step-grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Elsie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Jerry Lee Slagle, whom she married on Sept. 26, 1942 and who passed away on Nov. 4, 1999; a son, Frederick "Fred" Slagle, who passed away on Nov. 30, 2023; brothers, Eugene, Charles "Pete", Kenneth, James, Leroy, and Edward Anderson; and her sisters, Grace Lockhart, Janetta Atherton, Flossie McKain, and Hazel Reedy; and three infant sisters, Margaret, Mary and Dorothy Anderson.

Family and friends will be received from 6 - 8 PM on Friday, Aug. 2, 2024 at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of services at 11 AM on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2024 at Faith Cathedral, 149 Rau Dr., Kittanning, PA 16201 with Rev. Alfred Reedy officiating.

Interment will be in Cochran Cemetery, Templeton, PA.
