Allene Mae Ross

Allene Mae (McAfoose) Ross, age 86, of Kittanning, PA, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Armstrong Co. Memorial Hospital, E. Franklin Twp., after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers.

She was born on June 23, 1926 in Kittanning, to Alonza and Amelia (Bargerstock) McAfoose.

Mrs. Ross was a 1945 graduate of Kittanning High School and belonged to the Union Avenue Methodist Church of Kittanning, PA. She retired after being employed for 21 years from Stulls Cleaning Service of Kittanning, PA. She was a former volunteer for the Armstrong Co. Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the former Twice as Nice Shop. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, shopping and spending time with her family, especially their trips to Disney World.

She is survived by her two sons, Thomas W. Ross, Jr. of Kittanning and Ray E. Ross and his wife Rong of Corpus Christi, Texas; one daughter, Betty J. Thompson and husband James of Kittanning; two grandchildren John Thompson of Bloomington, IL and Malisa Tudor and husband Cameron of Jacksonville, FL; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Ray McAfoose of CA and Ralph McAfoose of Greencastle, PA; two sisters, Mona McAfoose and Jane Griffith, both of CA; her two furry friends, Moses and Yoda; and a special caregiver from the VNA, Kayla Gamble.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas W. Ross, Sr. whom she married April 3, 1945 and who died December 20, 2006; one son, Robert E. Ross and two grandchildren, Thomas C. Ross and Tammy Ross.

Funeral services will be private.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Union Cemetery, Cowanshannock Twp., Armstrong Co.
