Francis Allen Winters
Francis Allen Winters, age 82, of Shelocta, PA, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

He was born October 14, 1929 in Williamsport, PA, the son of Joseph and Winnifred (Riggle) Winters.
Allen grew up in Williamsport and lived there until he moved to Shelocta in 1969. He honorably served in the US Army in the Korean War and worked in the maintenance department at Indiana Regional Medical Center for 19 years until his retirement in 1995. Allen was a member of Shelocta Presbyterian Church and also belonged to the Elderton Lions Club and American Legion Post 0918 in Elderton.
Allen enjoyed working crossword puzzles and had a deep love of sports. He cheered on the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a close follower of Little League Baseball; Allen traveled to his hometown of Williamsport every year to watch the Little League World Series. Those who knew Allen will always remember the love he had for his family and how he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
His memory will be carried on with love by his wife of 42 years, Mary (Fleming) Winters, who he married June 6, 1970; son, Rebbie Earl Beere and wife, Faye, of Shelocta; grandsons, Cody Beere and Kevin Beere; great-granddaughters, Aubree and Camrynn Beere; brothers, Carlton Winters and wife, Shirley, of Kentucky and Lawley Winters, of Williamsport; sister, June Overdorff, of Williamsport; brother-in-law, Jay Rank, of Lewistown; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Winters, of Williamsport.
Allen was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Martin Winters; and sisters, Waldine Holmes and Cathy Rank.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street Elderton, PA.
Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, September 24, 2012 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Matthew Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Curry Run Cemetery, Shelocta, Pennsylvania, where full military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard.
