David B. Rupp
David B. Rupp, 76, of Kittanning, Pa took his final victory lap on Sunday, November 9, 2025.Born on February 24, 1949 to Ben and Helen Rupp, he was a mechanic by trade, co-owning Rupp's Auto Service in Kittanning until his retirement. He was a graduate of Dayton High School and Lenape Vo-Tech. When he wasn't under the hood of a car, he was behind the wheel, racing a late model #71 Ford becoming the 1975 Claimer Champion. Shortly thereafter, as legend has it, he "hit a mailbox on turn 2 at Lernerville", a claim that has been hotly contested since. He was inducted into the Armstrong County Sports Hall of Fame in 2003, an honor he shared with pride eight days a week.
Dave was preceded in death by his wife Judy, who died on August 1, 2009; his parents; and an infant daughter.
His legacy of dry wit, sarcasm, and a heavy right foot will live on through his daughters: Sara (Ian) Miller of Tarentum, Amanda (Chris) Conklin of Athens; grandchildren: Courtney (Jared) Stone, Chandler (Jamie) Milsom, Corben Conklin, McKenna Miller, Abby Conklin; and great-granddaughter: Brynlee Stone. He is also survived by a sister: Annette Rupp, and girlfriend: Leslie Craig.
Dave, who believed that life is better with a little help from your friends, was a member of the Kittanning Eagles, Kittanning Elks, Kittanning Men's Club, and Pattonville VFW. He was a proud supporter of local law enforcement, a fan of the Buffalo Bills, and a classic rock enthusiast.
A special thank you goes out to the crew of Kittanning Ambulance for their service during this long and winding road.
Per the family's wishes-and his general discomfort with being stared at (especially while horizontal)-there will be no formal services. A celebration of life will be scheduled later, ideally with fewer solemn faces and more adult beverages. Tomorrow may rain, so I'll follow the sun.
