Dorothy M. Porter

Dorothy M. (Anderson) Porter, age 88, of Spring Church, PA., died Friday, September 7, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at her home.

She was born on November 9, 1923 in Vandergrift, PA to Carl and Ida (Swank) Anderson.

Dorothy grew up in Vandergrift and graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1942. She was a former member of the Evangelical Reform Church of Vandergrift. She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed quilting, crocheting and sewing. Dorothy loved to travel and her family was especially important to her.

She will be best remembered for the love and care she showed to all five generations of her family including her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Patricia Walker, of Indiana, PA, and Gayle Foster and husband, Randy, of Apollo; grandchildren, Steve Yale, Michael Yale and wife, Angie, Cindy Weber and husband, Craig, Bill McCutcheon and wife, Sandy, Jim McCutcheon, Penny Bellan and husband, Joe, Bryan McCutcheon and wife, Rhonda, Jason Ferraro, and Melissa Renwick; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchild; brother, Ernest Anderson and wife, Marge, of Spring Church; and sister, Lois Jane Farster and husband, Harold, of Elderton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James W. Porter, whom she married Nov. 28, 1941 and who died May 5, 1994; daughter, Joyce Yale who died Dec. 2, 2007; and brothers, Howard Anderson, Lyle Anderson, Seward Anderson, Clarence Anderson, Robert Anderson and William Merle Anderson.

The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Clark Chapel of Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main St., Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Arlene Schweitzer officiating.

Interment will be at South Bend Cemetery, South Bend Twp., Armstrong Co., PA.
