Janice Kathleen Space

Janice Kathleen (Elgin) Space, age 85, of Shippenville, PA., died Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Clarion Hospital.

She was born on March 7, 1926 in Gastown, Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong Co., PA to Glenn V. Elgin and Agnes Marie (Smith) Elgin.

Mrs. Space was a member of the Hawthorn United Presbyterian Church of Hawthorn, PA. She was a former resident of the Elderton area where she graduated from High School in 1943. She later moved to Hawthorn and Fairmont City area until 1977 when she again moved to Shippenville. She was employed as a clerk for 12 years with Glen-Gery Brick of Summerville until her retirement in June 1991.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 58 years, Leroy Charles Space whom she married July 17, 1953; two daughters, Deborah Louise Kendra and her companion, Ron Reesman of Strattanville, PA, and Jacqueline Sue Taylor and her husband Fred of Philadelphia, PA; five grandchildren, Christopher Myers, Douglas Myers, Zachary Kendra, Fred Taylor, and Kathleen Taylor; and one brother, Vernon G. Elgin and his wife Marjorie of Kent, WA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ray L. Elgin; and a sister, Mary Florence "Floss" Elgin.

The family will receive friends from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 on Monday, May 16, 2011, at the Clark Chapel of Bauer Funeral Home, Inc. 238 South Main Street, Elderton, PA

Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Vernon Elgin officiating.

Interment will be at Elderton Cemetery, Elderton, Armstrong Co., PA.

Arrangements are being handled by the Clark Chapel of Bauer Funeral Home, Inc.
