Mary "Floss" Elgin

Mary Florence "Floss" Elgin, age 77, of Boulder City, NV, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, NV.

She was born on April 30, 1930 in Elderton, Armstrong Co., PA to Glenn V. Elgin and Agnes Marie (Smith) Elgin.

Prior to 1998, Miss Elgin was a resident of Elderton, PA where she was a member of the Elderton Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Elderton High School and received her BS in Education from Indiana University of PA and Masters from Clarion University. She was employed by the Armstrong School District for 24 years until she retired as head teacher of Elderton Elementary School in June of 1992. She was also a former member of the Armstrong County Education Association and a member of PSEA (PA State Education Assoc.), NEA (National Education Assoc.), Delta Kappa Gamma an Honorary Teacher's Sorority, and the American Philatelic Association.

She is survived by her brother, Vernon G. Elgin and his wife Marjorie of Kent, WA; her sister, J. Kathleen Space and her husband Leroy of Shippenville, PA; her sister-in-law, Alice Elgin of Boulder City, NV; four nephews, Jeffrey Elgin and his wife Marcia, Barry Elgin and his wife Joy Lynn, Mark Elgin and his wife Lynn, and Paul Elgin and his wife Elizabeth; two nieces, Debbie Kendra, and Jackie Taylor and her husband Fred; fifteen grand nieces and grand nephews; one great grandniece; and two great-grand nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ray L. Elgin, who died July 5, 2007.

Friends will be received from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA.

The funeral service will be held at 11 AM at the Elderton Presbyterian Church on Saturday, April 26, 2008, with Rev. Bill Milligan officiating.

Interment will be at Elderton Cemetery in Elderton, Armstrong Co., PA.
