Virginia I. Dodd

Virginia I. Dodd, 97, of Kittanning, PA, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025 at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital in Kittanning, PA.

She was born Sept. 7, 1928 in Vandergrift, to Louis J. and Alice J. (McCausland) Shamberger.

Virginia graduated from Vandergrift High School in 1946 and went on to attend the New Kensington Business School. She made her home in the Kittanning area beginning with her marriage to Delbert Dodd on September 18, 1948. Virginia worked in the cafeteria at West Hills School until her retirement in 1992.

Virginia attended St. John's Lutheran Church in Kittanning where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, served as a lector, and on Altar Guild and was involved with the Social Ministry Committee. She enjoyed knitting, fishing, listening to music, and playing cards, and remained very active with the activities at the Kittanning Senior Center. She was also a big Pittsburgh sports fan.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, Mark D. Dodd of Lexington, SC, Daniel L. Dodd and wife, Beverly of Kittanning, Eric A. Dodd and wife, Connie of Mauldin, SC and David L. Dodd and wife, Josie of Worthington; daughters, Jane E. Garcia of Kittanning and Lisa Neyman and husband, Scott of Kittanning; She will be greatly missed by her 18 grandchildren, Andrew Dodd (Kathleen), Erin Knight (Cameron), Alysia Nathan (Jon), Janelle Shinpoch (Jon), Laura Baltz (Dustin), Michael Dodd (Christine), Kristen Jenkins (Jimmy), Keira Dodd (Chris), Tasha Dodd (partner, Apurv), Jacob Dodd (Kristy), Caleb Dodd (Alyssa), Sarah Radford (Mason), John Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Joe Garcia (Chelsea), Jinny Garcia, Mindy Michaels (Doug), and Bret Neyman (Deb) and 25 great-grandchildren Blakely and Caylin Dodd, Lacey, Simon, and Jonah Nathan, Micah and Luke Shinpoch, Madelyn and Baylor Baltz, Emerson and Hayden Dodd, Piper Jenkins, Ellie and Lucy Heller, Ariana, Adalia, and Asher Bowser, Miles, Preston, and Emmett Dodd, Simon, Jude, and Carmela Dodd, Hudson and Maddox Neyman with a future great-granddaughter to arrive in July

She was preceded in death by parents; her husband, Delbert L. Dodd, who passed away on Nov. 1, 2001; two brothers, Ira "Pete" Shamberger and Harry Shamberger; sister, Betty Bowman, and daughter-in-law, Joyce Dodd (Mark).

Family and friends will be received from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 218 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning with Rev. Carl A. Johnson officiating.

Interment will be Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Choir Fund, 218 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning, PA 16201.
